The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the name of the formal process by which men and women are prepared to become members of the Roman Catholic Church. It involves education and discernment, prayer and ritual. As in any process, there are expectations and goals. But OCIA is not about checking boxes on the way to becoming Catholic—it’s about encountering God’s grace in a real, personal, transformative way.

ABOUT OCIA

OCIA is about healing the wounds caused by our own sins and a culture that doesn’t always welcome God.
It’s about developing a new vision of the heart—seeing God, suffering, and Providence with entirely new eyes.
And it’s about who you are as a human person, body and soul: made for more, made for love.
It’s about gradually embodying the dying and rising of Jesus Christ so that we live as “more than conquerors” (Rom 8:37) and attain the victory of Heaven.
OCIA brings your story into the story of salvation history, allowing you to make sense of where you’ve been and where you are going in God’s plan for your life, all as part of a larger community and culture: the Catholic Church, the Body of Christ.
