I am Reverend Augustine Aka. I was ordained a Catholic priest for the diocese of Abakaliki in Nigeria on July 9th 2005. Since my ordination, I have worked as pastor in two different parishes for 16 years within my diocese and I have been a principal of both elementary and high schools for seventeen years. These 21 years of my priestly ministry has been a period of God’s favor and blessing and I will always be grateful to God. Through my school apostolate, many students’ lives have been touched and reshaped. Today, so many of them are doing well in different professions and vocations, priests and nuns alike. I am grateful to my late Bishop, Most Revered Peter Nworie Chukwu and my Apostolic Administrator, Most Revered Ernest Obodo for giving me the opportunity to share in ministry in the Diocese of Rockville Centre. My gratitude also goes to Most Revered John Barres who not only accepted me into the diocese but sent me to work in Notre Dame Church in New Hyde Park and with Father John McCartney, who I have always admired because of his holiness and dedication to teaching and work.
